Dungeons and Dragons Club
Who: 5th grade thru 8th grade

This after school club is for new or experienced D&D players. Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) is a fantasy role playing game in which players create characters and embark on adventures. D&D takes many traditional elements from the fantasy genre to provide players a stage in which they create the story. The core of D&D is storytelling. You and your friends will tell a story together, guiding your heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue and much more. The goal is to have a fun time journeying through adventures that D&D can provide. The club encourages students to coordinate and plan as a team. The first session we will go through character creation and from there explore the Forgotten Realms!
Magic The Gathering Club (MTG)
Who: 5th grade & up

Attention Middle Schoolers! Join us Wednesdays this Winter after school for Magic the Gathering Club at the Teen Center! Magic The Gathering is a fantasy card game that is continuing its comeback from the 90s. Whether you already play the game, or want to learn, everyone is welcome. This club will offer instruction in the rules of the base game, different play styles and allow youth to play a fun, engaging game with their peers. Bring your own cards if you have them. However, decks will be available to play with. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Participants will finish the program with a tournament for prizes including booster packs!

BoxFit Workout

Boxing is a great way to fill out your fall and winter exercise routine. These classes are 1 hour long and held at the Jamestown Recreation Center. Join us in this full body class that incorporates all the fundamentals of a boxer’s workout. You will jump rope, shadow box, learn pad work, and partake in lots of heart pumping exercises in a fun and motivating environment. These classes are taught by a trained professional from Newport Boxfit. Please wear athletic clothing and sneakers. Gloves are not required and will be provided.

Beginner Filmmaking
Who: 5th grade thru 8th grade

Write, shoot and produce your own films! This course will encourage you to explore both the creative and technical elements of making your own films. We will learn about scripting, casting, camera work and editing in a fun, social environment. Filming will primarily take place in and around the recreation center. No prior experience is necessary!
Youth Winter Crochet
Who: Grade 5th-8th
Where: Teen Center
When: Thursdays 3-4:30PM, 1/19-3/9/23, 8 sessions

Join us Thursdays at the Rec Center for an opportunity to learn or expand your crocheting techniques with our experienced instructor, Lealah O’Neill! All skill levels are welcome in this fun, wholesome after school group. You may bring your own hooks and yarn if you have them, but all materials will be provided.
