Keep your eyes on the prize: To keep one’s attention on what you are trying to achieve, even when this is difficult to do. It is the title of an influential folk song from the American Civil Rights movement of the 1950s and ’60s. It is based on the song, “Gospel Plow,” also known as “Hold On” and “Keep Your Hand on the Plow,” which is an African-American spiritual based on Luke 9:62.
