Roy Wilfred Richards, 89, of Greenville, R.I. passed away May 15, 2023 after a short illness.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Barbara Riddensdale Richards.
Born in Dorchester, Mass., he was the son of the late Wilfred R. Richards and Madeline E. (Keville) Richards.
Roy was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He worked hard to support his family, as a chemist, in textiles and operated his own painting business until retirement.
What brought him the most joy was being with his family, who lovingly referred to him as “Pa.”
He could be heard a mile away, loved joking with family and friends, made the best grinders in the universe and brought smiles to anyone who heard his sax playing.
He will be deeply missed, but his family and friends take comfort knowing he and Barbara are together again.
He is survived by his son, Brad, and daughters, Stacy, Valerie and Bethany. He also is survived by 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
His graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in River Bend Cemetery, 117 Beach St., Westerly.
Calling Hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday in the Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford, 140 W. Main St., North Kingstown, R.I.
