Submissions sought for craft fair hosted by art association

Members of the Conanicut Island Art Association are eligible to submit 25 pieces for its “Little Picture Show,” which coincides with the organization’s annual craft fair during the holiday stroll.

Each artist can submit up to five pieces of framed art, up to 10 pieces of unframed bin art and up to 10 handcrafted note cards. The maximum sizes, which includes the frame, are 11 inches wide and 14 inches high. Framed pieces must be wired and ready to hang; no saw-tooth hangers will be accepted. The title, medium, artist and price of each piece must be listed both on paper and on the work. The association takes a 25 percent commission on sales.

The show is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Lawn School, 55 Lawn Ave. There is no theme and no entry fee for this one-day event. Work must be dropped off between 8:30-9 a.m. the day of the event. Unsold work should be picked up between 3:30-4:30 p.m.

In addition to the little pictures, 40 local artists were given booths to showcase their work. These artists, including Elaine Porter, Shirley Bell, Jillian Barber, Alex Kent and Wendy Crooks, were chosen through a juried process. Along with traditional media like photographs, paintings and ceramics, shoppers will be able to browse booths featuring ornaments, pottery, hand-knitted scarves, wooden cutting boards, jewelry, bird baths, table decor and greeting cards.

“The fair is filled with beautiful, diverse and affordable gifts,” said member Polly Carr.

The event also includes live music and food from Chopmist Charlie’s. Admission is free.
