Julia B. “Julie” Adams

Julia B. “Julie” Adams, 84, passed away peacefully watching the birds outside her window with her family by her side Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Julie was born Jan. 7, 1940, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late James Beeghly and Josephine (Hall) Beeghly.

She graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1958 and earned a bachelor’s degree in library science from Mount Union College, where she met her husband of 47 years and began a new journey on the East Coast.

Julie was a children’s librarian at the Public Library of New York in the Bronx. She later worked as a nurse’s aide for several nursing homes in Rhode Island for more than 20 years, retiring in 1995.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Newport, R.I. and Beavertail Lighthouse Museum Association in Jamestown. Some of Julie’s favorite pastimes included sailing with her husband on their sailboat the “Perseverance,” volunteering and performing at the Jamestown

Community Theater and cooking for family and friends, always trying new recipes.

Julie was a kind soul and she loved animals. As a young woman, Julie loved to ride her horse, and as an adult, she always shared her home with a dog or two.

Julie was a devoted wife, mother, sister and became a foster parent to Valode, a foreign exchange student for more than three years. She always had a positive attitude, an incredible strength and perseverance and kind words for anyone she encountered.
